Broughton Audio Super Thread

Where would you put a Broughton Hpf + LPF in relation to a BDDI V2 on a small board. The Broughton pedal is being shipped to me now and current chain is Tuner, Diamond Comp, Dispatch Master, BDDI V2. I thought I should probably slip the Broughton in before the BDDI.....I also thought about selling the BDDI and just running that same chain but ending with Broughton into radial DI.

I like to run the HPF/LPF last most of the time.

If I’ve got multiples, they can be useful earlier on with some pedals to limit the frequencies hitting different pedals as well, but otherwise last in line for final tone clean up and control.

Right on. I was thinking I should do the same r/g Broughton last in line. Which means after the BDDI V2, which means I wouldn't use the DI on BDDI V2 which is a significant reason why I have it. That's when I started thinking of selling off the BDDI and just go Broughton last into radial Di to the mixer.

Some amp(s) have HPF and/or LPF baked into them. So pedals > amp = the same thing that you are saying.

That would functionally work, however you would lose all the things the BDDI is doing for your tone If you replace the BDDI with a LP + HP filter and Radial DI. Just know what you’re getting into.

I go direct to the board from my pedals and just use a little Rumble 40 tilted on a stand as my monitor (no drummer so works great!) With my little board and ampless setup, do you think I'm not crazy to consider selling the BDDI V2 and just going broughton into radial DI? I suspect i have enough tone and eq with the controls on my jazz bass, the tilt eq on the diamond, the broughton taming the weird frequencies (& of course there's endless EQ on the mixer). Of course I like the BDDI but it's a little less elegant to go other pedals into BDDI and then again into broughton into another DI - especailly on a little nano + board.

You might want to consider the Joshwah. Just sayin.

These settings below in my experience turn the Joshwah into a defacto fuzz where the gain knob acts as expected and the sense knob acts like a tone control. Volume is master.

There’s more fuzz tones to be found with the top three knobs too but don’t be fooled into thinking the Joshwah is an envelope filter. It’s more of a fuzz box than a filter to me.

Did you know they’re in stock right now and you can buy a new one?
This was the first thing I noticed when I got the JoshWah and started messing with it. It was a fantastic surprise.

Don't think you're crazy at all! However, don't do nuthin' until you've done some 'xperimenting! After all, necessity (via mucho experimentation) is the mother of invention! :)

And don't sell those "little nano+ board(s)" short! You can fit a lot of magic onto them!:woot::bassist:

Thanks man! I'm trying not to let the GAS scramble my brains. You're right - a little patience must be practiced and a lot of experiments must be conducted. Cheers!

Actually, I already have one. I've liked it as an envelope follower...but I gotta try your settings out, out of curiosity.
