Brown basses - let's seem them!

Dayum that's dark

I think there should be more brown basses. And not just natural or stained ones...actual brown paint. Why not?

Been thinking about refinishing one of my El Cheapos in brown. It's currently burst.

Thing is, it's made of laminated/ ply wood...it's a late 70s MIJ P copy. The burst is almost black over the arm contour to disguise the layers of ply.

I would just strip it and clear coat it, or stain it a somewhat darker brown if not for the fact the layers would show.

Also don't wanna go too dark since I already have a black bass.

So, kicked around maybe doing it in vintage white or possibly gold...kicked around different ideas. Love to try Antigua, but while I've done a good number of refinishes, I've never tried any kind of a burst.

Anyway, it hit me: maybe a medium brown. Love the looks of the old Walnut/Mocha Fenders. Something along those lines, but solid paint, again, to hide the layers.

Think I may go shopping to see what kind of rattlecan browns I can find in Krylon and Rustoleum...
