Double Bass Brown Recluse spiders

I took these photographs of a brown recluse spider up close. We find these everywhere in our house in North Texas. Not a spider you want to get bit by. Its not really fatal, few if anyone dies from a bite, but the bite does rot the flesh away and will leave lots of bad memories.

I somehow got bit on the forearm one night at an outdoor gig about 10:00(just before our last set). Felt nothing, didn't know I had been bit(outdoor deck surrounded by bushes). By 11:45 my forearm had a slight lump on it. The next morning it was a small volcano-looking mound with the center being yuk stuff. Doc(Marine medic) gave me an antibiotic to kill/prevent the fleshrot and a steriod to get rid of the swelling. I was LUCKY to get aggressive treatment within 12 hours of the bite. No scars, no rot. A co-worker at my day job has nasty scars on his hand from the same type of bite that left untreated for a day longer.
