Bruce Thomas

That's actually Andrew Bodnar playing bass on "Watching the Detectives"
Weird isn't it that Elvis picked him for his first album and then Bruce for the next stage in his career and then picked laid back guys for the second half of his career - yes he used Jerry Schiff but that was an attempt to replace Bruce which, to my ear, totally failed.
I think it's kind of odd, because if I was going to pick someone to replace Bruce, I'd have thought of of Jerry too, but his style of overplaying just wasn't as muscular and yet melodic as Bruce's. (I know Jerry's style well as I was in an Elvis (the other Elvis) tribute band and had to try to cop his insane coke-addict hopped up on caffeine laced with speed style playing for the 70s stuff - I'm still not a huge fan of his, though he's gotten inside my head and I play way more busy than I used to).
