BSR5GN VS. Streamer Stage II

What to choose between these two? Ken Smith's BSR5GN or Warwick's Streamer Stage II??

help me decide specially for those who own one of these beautiful instruments

although the SSII is a nice choice i think that the smith is gonna be the better bass on the whole

If you want a Spector, get a Spector -- If you want a Warwick, get a Warwick, but getting a Warwick copy of a Spector just seems silly.

Get the Fender -- I mean KSD.

A Ken Smith BSR5GN is a long ways from a KSD. Groovetoolz, you really need to know what sound you want. The Ken Smith sound, or that old Stuart Zender, Jamiroquai sound.

I'd go for the Warwick. You can get some amazingly crisp slap tones out of them!

if price doesn't matter then i would get the ken smith. i love the warwick, but i feel that the ken smith would be a much better made bass on the whole.

The SSII has a very signature tone that is hard to get rid of.
It gets a little annoying when it sits right out in the mix and is very difficult to EQ it out.

The Ken Smith on the other hand.. i feel that its a more versatile bass in general.

I know I would get the Smith Because that is what I would want to fill in the gaps in my "stable", but that may not be what you need. As Dr. Cheese said, figure out which one has the sound you want, and go with that one.

The BSR5GN is one of the best basses out there from my experience. The SSII is one of the best Warwicks, but that's not something that interests me too much. Not sure about you.

I personally have gravitated to preferring the bolt-on Smiths (like a BSR5MW), they feel a little punchier to me.

They are both built like tanks. Solid ain't the word for it. The SSll has that signature sound....that can be altered only slightly. The Smith I think is more flexible in that regard. The Warwick (to me) that would be closest to the Smith would be the Stage 1 except it has a pretty big wide neck and wide 20mm spacing though. Wider than the Smith.The SSll has less width to the neck and closer string spacing compared to the Smith.

Who's to say that the KS only does it moderately well?

im a big fan of that warwick growl, but my issue with them has always been the playability. the necks feel liek crap to me for the most part. every smith ive played has been like buttahhh....so mr. smith gets my vote.

Warwick all the way. All my life I thought I was playing bass, I was wrong, and I ve realized that after I picked up a Warwick, 'cause THATS a real bass!
Also a friend of mine who finished Berklee school of music had this Ken Smith for all this time... After he saw and played my Warwick he sold his bass and got a Warwick too!
I was between those basses my self... Glad I ve got my Warwick insteed.

I voted Ken Smith. Surprise, eh? I've owned and played plenty of Warwick basses, and I would hands-down pick a Ken Smith over any one of them (if I had to pick!)

I didn't vote. I have a SSII and I love it. It plays awsome and sounds even better. BUT...I don't have the stock electronics or pups in it so it's a different pony. SO....Out of the box, I'd say Smith, but for a couple $$ worth of mod, the SSII is incredible and is very versitile as well. I don't know the $$ on the Smith, but I'm sure it's not too cheap either.
Like others have said, figure out what kind of sound you are after and choose from there. YOu won't go wrong with either of those choices!!

Have you played both? They are going to feel completely different. Different string spacing, different body shapes, different neck profiles. The street price for the Smith is $4100 and the street price for the SSII is probably ~$3500 for new.
