i have a btb 405qm with the ibenez pickups. i switched to bass about 6 months just wondering what you guys are using. i know i want to go thicker. my strings are to thin for me now
Get thicker strings of whatever your brand is if you like them. I have to use D'addario on my BTB 6 string because it is all that is stocked in town, I like them, I prefer DR.
My B string is usually a .130, I would buy a .125 over a .135 if I had too. If you go too thick it won't sit properly, you'd also need to go out of your way to get strings that thick in my experience.
Im low on the money, and i read that string change makes a big difference on a bass, more than on a guitar. So all of your answers are really appreciated.
I have a 575fm. They have a lot of bass, i usually roll off the bass a little or pan slightly to the bridge pickup. To tame this I've chosen mid focused strings. I used Chromes for a while, they are flats, but not muddy flats. Now I use Ken Smith Compressors. I've gotten lots of complements on my tone with both, and as I said I run a nearly flat EQ on the bass and my amp.
