Buckeye Redeemer DC for Redleg

You are far too modest scotty.
I made choices from what I knew I liked. My influences for this bass are very apparent to me, but I will fill you all in.
Early warwick, pedulla, and MTD were the main influences. Scotty had the most comfortable looking doublecut on the market. PLUS he is from Texas and I am in the army so I played that card ;)

Can't wait to play her

Here's some quick and dirty sound clips of this bass.

The open notes start out with both pickups in parallel up-scale then change to both pickups in series downscale. The second part of the clip consists of three parts; the first part is with both pickups parallel, the second is both pickups in series the third is of both pickups in single coil. Like all clips, this is recorded straight from the bass to interface with all eq flat and with no effects. There's a little hiss from being so close to the computer monitor, it doesn't do it through my Ampeg. The Nordstrands sound GREAT with a little EQ tweak.

Once again sloppy playing...:rollno:

Just thought I would post an update to this thread. I have made some changes to this bass. The open pore satin finish on the neck did not work for me whatsoever. Scott fixed it ASAP PDQ! With no hassles. Next to go was the audere preamp. For all that swear by them thats cool, they're not for me; too wimpy. I went with an LEJ preamp for about 2 weeks and couldn't get used to it. I guess Brians Preamps truly sound they're best with his pickups. However, I found that I prefer 2 volumes, rather than a blend. So I went with the tried and true Aguilar OPB3 with selectable mids and added an active passive bypass. I also changed the 2 coil taps. I found myself overwhelmed by them! I bought a 4PDT switch and wired both pickups to it to go from series to parallell mode. This series parallell switch really works for me. Last change, I switched to roundwounds. I started out with ground wounds and thought what the hell, I have ebony board coated with epoxy.

Now for possible upcoming changes. I thought about putting a hipshot piezo bridge with a cafe walter PZP-1 buffer attached to a separate volume; bringing the grand total to 3 volumes (mag pickups on a stacked pot).

Scott, congrats on your job promotion, but come back to the business when you can. I am happy with the sound and playability of this instrument.
