Budget 1x12 stand alone cab chatter

Please do yourself a favor and NOT purchase a 1x12, it's just not enough speaker real estate to make an impact. Even a 2x12 or a 1x15 would be better (I like 15's)

The GK Neo112-II is one of my favorite 1x12's at any price range, and while I may slightly prefer Bergantino or Glockenklang, when you factor in the price, the GK Neo112-II is flat-out amazing! 
I got one of the early 112 Neos and it farted out in my living room, so I'd never be able to use it alone on a gig. I have not played a "series 1" Neo112, but my experience with the Neo112-II is very different from what you apparently encountered. In fact, I find that the Neo112-II comes very close to the low end performance of the Bergantino HT112ER, which has very impressive low frequency performance. At any rate, I've done some loud gigs with my Neo112-II, and it performed quite well.
That being said, you can push any cab too far, and if you are running much of a bass boost in your EQ, you can get almost any cab to fart out (even at lower volumes). So, lots of caveats and all that, plus some IME/IMHO and YMMV thrown in for good measure.

I have an LDS 112/horn cab that features a 3012LF and a Selenium Super Tweeter that I have used with a Crown XLS1000, giving me me about 700 watts bridged into that cab. It sounds glorious and has never farted out once. My only problem is hearing it well enough; it does need to be elevated. I know some players use these Eminence LF drivers with 300 watts or so ( and so did I ), but, man, there is quite a difference when you really give them some power. I can use this stand alone 112 in my Blues band setting, no FOH, no problem.
Oh yeah, I agree, but this was at medium volume in my living room, no bass boost. It sounded great, but would fart when pushed just a little. I then got the Dr Bass 1260 Slant, and was able to play lots of gigs with it.

Gotcha. Well, all I can say is that I haven't experienced anything like that with my Series II Neo112's.
I've decided to give the GK Neo112-II a go, although I won't be using it as a stand-alone cab, but rather in conjunction with my Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0/0.8 combo. This way I'll be able to tap into the full 300 watts of the Shuttle when necessary, which really won't be that often since I rarely play out anymore but will still be nice to have. I've heard that the 8" and 12" work pretty good together, and I guess I'll find out.
