Hey, I've been browsing around for a fairly low priced 6 string. I've come to the conclusion that the ESP LTD b-206 was just about right for me, but I'd like your opinion/personal experience of the bass to just be sure. Thanks.

I've seen the Brice models, along with Rogue too. I've read the ESP LTD B206 is the better choice, for what you pay. Any personal experiences with any of the cheaper 6 strings like Rogue, Brice, ESP, Peavey,etc?

...I'm not asking where to buy them. I know all the places to look. I made this thead to read even more reviews of these basses, to further help my decision. I've read all the reviews I can find, but would like some of your personal experiences, or suggestions if you have them.

I've got a douglas 6 string and i like it a lot better than the few ibanez and one dean 6er that I've played. The neck is a little heavy but it's also really quick and easy to play. I was afraid of not being able to get around the neck because I've got short fingers but it barely took any time for it to become a second nature. The pickups sound decent, I have the model with the 2 J's in it. Only problem is when you turn the blend knob it will get a little noisy. Best of all it was shipped to me in less than a week and required barely any setup before it was good to go.

I have the Brice HXB 406 and it's a pretty decent bass for 150 bucks with a case....I got it used. If I had three hundred bucks to spend on one I would get something (used) that's better. Look for an Ibanez SR506 used.

The only example of that ESP model I've ever seen looked great, but it was set up for archery and not for playing, so I can't really comment on playability.

a used ibanez 506 or yamaha trb 1006 coudl be found in the 4-5 hundred dollar range and would be a lot bettter than the esp, whihc arent terrible for the price tag, but ive found them to not play consistantly up and down the neck, and the electronics and pickups are rather shoddy to say the least. some have pretyt cool spalted tops though.

I use one of the Douglas fretless 6's. I did have to return one, but that's probably because I should have set it up myself instead of letting a mctech touch it and screw up the neck. The current one I have is fine though. I gig with it weekly without a backup, and I wouldn't upgrade unless I was getting a fully custom boutique bass. I may yet drop a new preamp in, but that's about it, and even that's not a huge necessity if your amp is good enough.
