I own the ESP B-206SM. For the price, it's not bad. I personally feel pretty comfortable with the neck and bridge as is. Pickups are lacking a bit with the punchiness

Had the same issue with mine b-205. pickups really didn't have the punch you'd expect from active electronics, you just couldn't wake the damn thing up. I thought it was a great player though.

Yea, pick-up power is a little thing. But for a first-time sixer, not that bad

I'd like to chime in on budget sixers as well. In my experience the statement "you get what you pay for" very accurately classifies budget gear like Brice and SX. I've had budget gear as well as high end non-boutiques and every time I purchased a budget bass I ended up getting rid of it in less than 6 months. I've got an ibanez sr406 that i'm in the process of looking to trade for some passive .... Really a great playing bass. IMO the ibanez 6 string necks are a lot more accessable than fender 5's.

I'd go with the ESP for sure. A guy i knew had the 5 string version and it had tone for miles. ESPs are the only basses I know of that sound good with EMG HZ pickups besides Spector ReBops which can cost hundreds more.

try a 6str Ibanez SDGR made in Indonesia, pretty low price..

Try the Hohner B Bass VI. they are going for around $350. i have had mine for two months and LOVE it. check em out on the Evil Bay.
