Budget Wal?

I was reading about the new filter-based preamp from AC Guitars thats coming out (it may already be available for sale) and how it operates effectively the same as a Wal preamp. Could anyone tell me how close a warmoth body and neck, hipshot bridge and ultralite tuners, a pair of humbuckers (Norstrand or Sadowsky) and the AC preamp could get to the sound of a Wal? It's a project I'm seriously considering.

I can tell you that the Fodera-Wal sounds very much like a Wal, not a typical Fodera. Also keep in mind that Alembics have filter based preamps too and typically don't sound anything like Wals.

Still, this looks like a GREAT preamp!!!

What's the Fodera Wal?

A Fodera with Wal electronics, owned by Hippiesandwich. Checked it out in person a while back. HEAVY but SWEETEST BASS EVER!!!

It's the bottom bass of course, but the Sei is no slouch either.

Hmm, wait - the LP filter is adjustable only up to 3kHz. I don't see any way to switch it out of the circuit, so that would mean no matter what you're always filtering 3kHz and above. But that can't be right. The treble shelving filter must be in parallel with this?
