Bugera 1960 for bass

The "lack of bass" comment was about the Bugera 1990 head (inspired by the Marshall JCM 900 Hi Gain Dual Reverb head) not the 1960 head (inspired by the Marshall 1959). I have both, but haven't run my bass through the 1990, only guitar.

Superlead:
-split cathode V1
-5k brightcap Vol 1
-22n coupling cap (67/68 plexis) after first stage, 2n2 coupling cap (69 plexis) after first stage
-some plexis have .68uF bypass cap V2 (boosts upper mids and highs)
-tonestack parts 33k/500pF
-22n coupling caps after phase inverter
Superbass:
-shared cathode V1
-no brightcap Vol 1
- 22n coupling caps after first stage
-no bypass cap V2
-tonestack parts 56k/250pF
-100n coupling caps after phase inverter
-100 Ohm NFB from 8 Ohm tap
FWIW most people are satisfied by simply converting split V1 cathodes to shared V1 or splitting a shared V1 to split V1 (since this has the biggest influence on the tone) and leaving the rest of the amp, especially if its original.
Schematics might be harder to find. I'm at work right now so, I can't really do the digging I want.

Actually, I might have them. I have the History of Marshall book, Aspen Pittman's book and (about 30 years ago) I copied a bunch of Marshall schematics that a local amp tech had.
I'll take a look later today.
By the way, a 100 ohm resistor in the feedback loop sounds low considering the fact that the amp has a presence control and in my recollection, Fender style amps without presence controls usually have lower value resistors in the feedback loop.
You've probably a better chance of knowing as well as being able to verify about the resistor. I've never seen a Marshall Super Bass in real life and I haven't the schematics. I just know I want to at least try one before I perish.

"Adam's old Marshall is a late 70's Marshall Super Bass that's been converted over to Super Lead specs. He uses JJ EL34's and some sort of Chinese 12AX7's in the preamp. It's slightly modded, but it's really only a few part changes, nothing extensive as when people think of "mods." There's a 100k feedback on the 4 ohm tap, a .68 cap for the Presence, a .68 for the V2, and the caps out of V1 are .022. The JJ's are biased up to 25ma and of course, the channels are jumped together.
Yeah, that's info straight from Dave (Friedman) when he cracked open Adam's amp. Don't know where he may posted info, but that's what he told me. Dave modded one of my Super Leads (check the sig)"

sorry for such a long dealy, i have no way to record my rigs (aside from youtube) but here is a picture...
The amp stays clean till it hits around 8 on the volume, and with this cab im not hurting for low end.
This is MY favorite rig (Dare I Say)
I prefer it to my V4B, and SVT for sure...

This is me in November 1972:
Caught red handed spanking the plank I would say.
My old plexi marshall with a four by twelve, I had an old Selmer 1 X 18
under it.
Its still the sort of sound I use today if I can possibly get away with it.
I got about an acre more plexi from an old Simms Watts in the recipe.
OH and just a drizz or in fact a heavy squeeze of juicy hiwattishness
from my old Roost.

Here Goes -
I was using my slab p bass that has a ric pickup.
The tone and volume maxed on the bass.
Im in standard tuning (E,A,D,G) and am using d'addario Chromes...
I had the amp settings all at noon except presence which i tend to dime.
My amps volume at 2.
Using the Dan Electro Cool Cat Fuzz. All Settings maxed on the pedal (minus volume) I did turn the treble and mid up just a hair on the amp while using the pedal...

Wow...even through my cheapo headphones that I use for teleconferences at work, the low end was pretty solid. I was going to write that I have the bass dimed on mine, but I may be thinking about the Bugera 1990 I use for guitar, which does have the bass all the way up. I'll have to check.
With my Ampeg 8x10 (mid '90s version), I keep the Presence all the way down, let the Normal channel do most of the work and just add some top end with the Bright channel.
