Bugera Veyron BV1001T head question

I have the mosfet version and love it. Just purchased the tube preamp version and was wondering if anyone has done any preamp tube swapping and if it has made a noticeable difference?

Thanks in advance
I don't know this particular amp, but I did some tube swapping with other gear.

IME don't except any improvement in the tone quality after replacing the stock preamp tube by a more fancy/expensive one.

The only scenario when it's useful to do tube swapping is if the preamp goes too quickly into distortion with a 12AX7 tube, then you can replace it by a lower gain tube (12AT7 or 12AU7 for example). Not only will the gain knob stay clean longer, but you will also have a wider range of control between clean and distortion, therefore expanding the tonal palette of sounds that between clean and dirt.

I made a demo here:

Although the Bugera Veyron is a completely different animal, there's no reason why it wouldn't behave the same.

Thank you.

Would I just have to change V1 or change all 3 preamp tubes? Also does brand make a huge difference(I know opening a can of worms here) I have several 12ax7 tubes ranging from JJ, sovtek, ruby, mullard, psvane, Tung-sol etc.. Long plates and short. Never tried the 12at7or 12au7 these were all for guitar amps, the veyron will be my first tube or more accurately hybrid bass Amp. And new to tube amps in general only had them for a year or so.

Thank you.

From my experience with another preamp, only V1 counts. I've tried different brands, and I couldn't tell the difference for the same class. I'm 56, so maybe my ears have lost a bit of accuracy. But from what I have read, brands and quality will affect the reliability more than the tone. Maybe changing the brand can make a difference for a guitar, or a hi-fi amp, but for bass honestly, I think it's just not worth it.

Also this amp doesn't have a great reputation, so maybe you are deceived because it doesn't sound as expected, and I'm sorry to say it's not a problem of tube quality or tube brand, it's more likely to be a not-so-good amp design.

Oh I am very pleased with it. As stated I have the mosfet version and it is amazing. So far the tube version has not disappointed. Was just curious about tubes for it.
