The build is finally done. I am very pleased. Unfortunately the volume control set screw striped. It is a push pull pot so that didn't help. Now I need to look into fixing it using the advice from @Beej
The instrument feels and sounds good so now I'll just wait to see how it ages and lives through the seasonal changes. If I need a height adjustable bridge I may remake the second one I did previously but this time out of maple.
I'll be recording a video with this bass, but it will take some time to pull together. I'll post it here when it is ready.

Here is a demo I recorded of the bass. This is in the ballpark of the sound I was looking for and I think the song is appropriate for it. It was recorded with only a bit of reverb.
The neck is 2 5/8" wide (no taper) so that is what the nut width is. Quirky? How so? Always interested in getting feedback. Thanks.

How did you treat the Padouk?
I have a one-piece Padouk neck which is oiled and it tends to get white stains after a while.
They can easily be wiped off but still it's a bit of a turn off.

The entire instrument is finish with Watco Danish oil (including the Padauk fingerboard.) I have a Chapman Stick made out of Padauk. Stick Enterprises finishes their instruments in Danish oil and I've never had any issue with the finish of my Stick. Haven't experienced any white or any other type of stain.
Cool build, nice to see something out of the box. Maybe on the push pull pot you could drill through the pot shaft and tap it as well? Might give the extra holding power you need to keep from stressing the wood as much?
I had a question about your strap bar. How thick did you make it, and does it does at all when in use?

The pot shaft is the split kind so I don't think drilling it is an option.
The strap bar is 1/4" thick aluminum. You dropped a key word, so I am not sure what your question was

No flex. If there was any doubt I guess you could step up to 3/8" but I think that would really be overkill unless you had an incredibly heavy instrument.
