Build the heaviest bass ever?

My nearly-all-maple fake bigsby I created is a bit heavy.

Northern ash and purpleheart make a great start. I contoured this one as much as I could, and it's still uncomfortably heavy.

Comedic riffing aside, I helped a friend build a fretless 4 string a few years ago. He found some old maple cutting board slats, planed them, glued them together and cut a (thick) body out of it. By the time it was done, it weighed a bloody ton - but it sounded awesome. Even having it sitting on your lap when seated was excessive, but the thing just sang. One of the sweetest fretless basses I've heard. I've played great sounding basses of various weights but in this case I really think it benefited from the dense/heavy body. Maybe for that specific studio recording, but not for a 3hr gig.
