Build the heaviest bass ever?

For the hardware you might get some inspiration from the Ovation Magnum I

I'm a metal fabricator... and a metal bassist, and I've been building basses for a long time. I have 20 basses collected from over the last 50 years, and my largest bass, which is a bat that was given to me by the Misfits, is my lightest bass. Most of my others are PBasses and Stingray HH's, but I have a lot of unique crazy metal stuff too. The heaviest of all is my Steve Harris Pbass... and if you're an Iron Maiden fan, you know that Steve demands a heavy bass... so much so that Fender was ordered by him to build it heavy. They did! But it's just a regular alder body, maple neck, badass bridge P, so what did it? Secret is PAINT! Again, I've been a fabricator for a long time, and paint is heavy, some types are heavier than others. So... build a Fender Precision with the vintage style neck like on the Steve Harris model... the neck is like the business end of a baseball bat. Don't use a modern neck!!! They're smaller and use graphite to save weight and add strength. A big, fat, maple neck, with a 1.75 nut and a numerically small radius!! Then use a maple body if you want the most weight, ash next, alder is lightest. Paint it all with Big Daddy Roth Monster Metal Flake. I can get about 10lbs out of some paint jobs. If this is not heavy enough for you... then you probably have gone beyond any reasonable reality and are either so good that you'll invent your own, or so normal that no one will care. Last but not least... you can buy 2 inch solid steel (stainless, aluminum, whatever) bar, which is sliced the thickness of your bass body, then use a 2 inch hole saw to drill holes in the body. After, use epoxy to glue in the metal plugs. Just don't pull a Paul Siminon with it or you'll wind up in the basement.

And just to make myself more clear - the bass would have to be 1 piece, and the hardware would have to be heavy aswell. Heaviest as possible.

A solid body stand-up bass?

I have two solid hunks of purpleheart that I planned on making a body out of. They must weigh ten pounds a piece. So...for starters, there's 20-ish pounds without a neck...or hardware.
It should be a beast when its done. I don't plan on standing up when I play it. Or being able to use the tools I have to actually cut the stupid things!

I have a doubleneck I made out of purpleheart. It's awesome. It's ridiculously heavy (in the upper 20 lbs or lower 30's, not sure) 15 years ago, I'd proudly play it on stage hanging from my shoulder. I'm a big guy, so weight was never an issue. But I'm 42 now, and the bass hangs on the wall.

Hey, I might be crazy, but not stupid. Once you lose your back, it's basically game over in life.

Haha lol. Yeah I think you are very right about the price. Not to mention all the horrible back pain and shoulder pain :p

Mac Ebony is beautiful (most beautiful from the Ebony ''family'' in my opion) :)
