Building wealth.

Damn it!!! I was there again...I want it but no!!payments will only be an extra $80 from current payments.

Currently I have 2 jobs and worked 10 hours OT in one and 10 at the other....so 60 a week.

I blame my father for making me think I'm not gonna have any retirement money.

If this means you resisted taking on more debt, congratulations, it means you are on your way to being able to stop working earlier if you want to.

How do you guys resist the temptation to spend all that money you've worked so hard for?

I just think of my savings as if it's not mine to spend. It belongs to the future me, and to my family.

In my view, measuring your expenses in "payments" is a bad idea. It's a way to talk yourself into spending more money, because a mere $80 per month doesn't sound as ominous as flushing $10k down the toilet.

A vastly better strategy would be to count the same $80 per month towards being able to pay cash for your next car, so you don't need to make payments any more. Even at low interest rates, interest still costs money.

I thank my father for making me think that way.
