Burns Bison help

Hello everyone,

I am interested in purchasing a Burns Bison bass. There are not many around but I am on the lookout.
The thing is, there is not much info on these basses and I wonder if some of you might have the answers to some of my questions:
- what are the differences between the original (60s) and the re-issues?
- do you have an idea on how much they should sell for?
Many thanks!
Sandra

While I've never had a Bison, I did have a Barracuda for roughly a year so I feel I might be able to give some info.

The reissues are made in South Korea/Indonesia depending on the model and year. I would think that paying more than $800-900 for a reissue is probably too much - but the original models from the 60's are going to be a few thousand depending on condition. That being said, finding ones that were sold stateside is proving to be a little difficult after a cursory glance. I'd look at the sold listings on Reverb to get a better idea.

Thanks for the reply. Prices on reverb and other places seem to fluctuate - maybe because they seem to be coming back in style…?
I wonder if the re-issues have the same sound. I listened to a few tunes played on a burns bison and have to say I fell in love with the sound!
