Just been offered a burns bison in either white or black both used for 300uk pounds, is this a good deal? both are in pretty good condition.

That's close to $600 US, right? Seems a bit high. Here's one for $450:

For the OP; the links given are for a reissue (Korea - late 90's) and an original UK made (60's).
I have a reissue Marquee and it's a decent instrument. However, for whatever reason, they didn't sell well and the last ones in the US were blown out about 2 years back for $US200-250 iirc.

I don't know about the prices really. £300 seems a good deal - esp if a case is included, as they are hard to come by for such a long bass.
I love mine and it gets used in the studio every time.
It sounds like I imagine my rickenbackers SHOULD and i can get every sound i could dream of from it. Long reach on the neck, though!!

i was in the market for one not so long ago and i was offered a white one for £370. i got the price down to £320. the market in america is alot cheaper it may be worth investigation how much it would cost to get one posted over the pond.
if i had the money to pay for one i would go to that price but really if your strapped for cash i would only really go as far as £250 for one if you get what im trying to say

Sorry to contradict you like this, markdavid, but wouldn't it be the opposite scenario for the OP (being based in the USA)?
If he's buying from the UK and the price is 300GBP, then at the current exchange rate, a US buyer would have to pay $600 for it! That's a lot of money, considering that a brand new EBMM StingRay (for example) costs only $1,200 over there.
