I've busked on my own with a Squier Jazz Bass and one of those little Roland battery powered amps. It had a built in drum machine - people drop coins if you make them groove!

Busking on a bass??? Hmmmm. Ya better have some really hot licks if you want to have them throw anything at you. Better to learn some guitar.
Sorry - that's rubbish, at least round these parts. People banging out 3 chords and singing Oasis are a dime a dozen. Do something different and interesting and you will get attention! Try harder.

We get one here at our weekly summer street festival. He plays a very percussive, slappy riff over and over. I think he mainly gets attention because he stands on his stand-up bass.

lol I don't do any Oasis and I don't see anyone else out there on a 12 string doing any Leo Kottke, John Fayhe, Steve Earl or Zepplin. There might be a reason you don't see anyone busking on a bass. I wonder what that reason might be?
