bust strap button :(

I lent out my P styled bass to a friend for a practice and the strap button came loose and the strap came off then, the bass hit the floor arse first but the strap button went into the body itself! >.< painful blow.

So any ideas how to get the strap out and repair it back to its original self? e.g I'd need a body filler which i can screw then I can screw the strap button back into it. Any ideas?

Pull the strap button out the best you can. Drill out the hole with the closest size drill bit to the hole to make it even. Then dowel the hole with maple and reinstall the strap button. Atleast that is what I would do. Luthiers do this quite often and it would be a relatively cheap fix. May be worth taking it to someone to do.
