Busted truss rod - what to do?

OK, I think I already know the answer to this, but the trussrod adjustment socket broke off the trussrod after I glued the fingerboard on. Apparently, epoxy leaked into the channel and seized the threads. WhenI attempted to turn the nut, the sockethead sheared off. I expect I'll have to heat the fingerboard and remove it, clean out the channel, and install a new truss rod. I hate to do it, though, because I figure it'll delaminate the binding on the fingerboard once the wood gets hot enough to release the epoxy. I suppose I could just redo the binding...

So, anybody ever have to do this? How big a PITA is it?

Is the binding glued on with Ca. or is it tightbond?
If it is Ca., you may be able to heat it just enough to melt the tightbond the finger board is glued on with (assuming it is tightbond) and not enough to melt Ca., As it takes a little more heat to melt.
 
Hmm, good point. The board is glued with West system epoxy, which does have a lower melting temp than CA. I use a heating blanket for bending acoustic sides, and it has pretty accurate temperature control. It would be great to not have to redo the binding!
