Buy a Boss LS-2

Great pedal, I need to pick up a new one at some point as mine has a wonky footswitch as other have mentioned... I have a few Boss pedals with the bad switches, oddly none of them are old and/or broken in, only the newish ones have the issue.. anyone know if there's an easy way to fix them?

it is a HUGE benefit to have 2 effect loops. having too many pedals in a row will suck the life out of your tone versus having effect loops hleps with this. also for having different types of pedlas separate that you can mix with separate volume controls. I use my LS-2 for having 2 specific loops: one is env filter-dirt-O/D-fuzz and the other is my modulation such as flanger-chorus and slow-motion pedal. check my profile for my setup but it works great for me and it took me a LONG time to get it down

So to add on to what was mentioned by sillyfabe; the idea is that you can switch 3 or 4 effects on with one stomp;...IE the actual effects are already on and you hit the LS-2,....all those effects are injected into your signal.

I find myself using it as a kill switch where I'll gradually pop on just about every effect on my board and then hit the LS-2 and instant clean,...then I can go about setting up my effects "scene" for the next jam.

Probably my favorite function of the LS-2 is blending,...I'm finding that blending clean with fuzz is a great tool to have,...I just love how it sounds,...it's almost like adding another guitarist to the band when you have you clean line matched with a fuzz or OD.

My favorite, favorite, favorite go to tone is an octave down in parallel with the HP filter on my Q-Tron plus. It is dead funky. You just can't get that tone with one effects chain, or even a blend pedal. There are bunches of other options; flanger in one loop and a tremo-drive in the other, a clean delay beside a fuzz-wah, the list is unending.

I have a parallel blender, not the LS-2, but similar and it's pretty much defined my tones.

running effect loops has enabled me to do my holy grail...

clean boost + mixed supercollider fuzz... means when I need to step up to the plate and have my effects heard I can stay in the mix both tone and volume wise esp as previously anytime I used my wah it was just like an on off pedal :(

playing notes on the B string with clean and supercollider blend = ultra doomy fuzz with definition!

I used this almost exclusivly to make tones, and blend clean signal in, now I have a looper, but I still keep the ls-2 on the board. Here is how my chain worked...

Pedulla Rapture > Boss LS2>

Chain A: Boss OC-2> Human Gear animato> Big Muff> HBE Hematoma> Ibanez SB7> Return
Chain B> Digitech Bass Synth Wah> Akai Deep Impact> Line 6 FM4> Return

Out of LS-2 into Peterson Strobo Stomp> Marshall DBS Stack

Basically, your chains are linked to gether effects. Chain A runs through each pedal in that order and then intot he return. Same with B. I can turn any pedal on or off that I feel is needed, and I can turn the whole loop off when needed.

I now have a switcher, which places the whole effects chain in B, minus the BSW. The digitech BSW is now in C, and A is empty. I can switch back and forth over and over and only tap two switched at the same time...

edit: just saw in A<->B mode you can actually use it like a 2 settings boost pedal if you leave the channels open,... even MORE awesome!

Just curious if this would work....

Bass > Tuner > LS-2(1) > LS-2(2)...

LS-2(1) is used to split the signal to go to two amps. One goes straight to one amp for a clean tone and the second goes through the second LS-2 to go through your effects chain and to go to your 'dirt' amp.

...LS-2(2) loops

A. Octave > Filter > Fuzz > (soon) VT Deluxe > Return
B. Chorus > Flanger > Phaser > Return

...LS-2(2)(send) > Delay > Compressor > EQ > Amp(Dirt)


So yea, would this work? Would this even be worth doing? Is the second LS-2 unneeded? Would it be better just to send loop B through the VT Deluxes loop? What if I wanted to use the VT as a DI and blend the mic`d amps - would this be redundant in any way? Is there a potentially 'better' setup option?

I know this is a lot of questions and I know the common answer will be 'Do whatever sounds best', but that`s not a reasonable answer when you`re talking about spending a couple grand just to try it. I`m really curious into seeing whether or not this is worth looking into. I know I`d love to have a solid clean tone that is unmolested by effects, but still have the effects to add to the sound while not completely taking away from the core tone. I`m also curious if this could potentially get too bassy or muddy.
