Buying a new amp advice(the transaction itself)

I am interested in buying a new amp, probably going to be the Fender Rumble stage to upgrade my 1 yr old Rumble 200v3. It's $799 basically everywhere. I had a little chat at GC the other day on trading my 200 in and they offered me $215 sight unseen. They also said it would take 10% off so that gets me $300. I was going to sell it for about that anyways. I think I'm going to sell privately and just wait for a sale.
My question is, is there a better or worse way to buy or place to buy from? Is everybody not charging tax online? Zzounds was looking good the other day. Just looking at how dealers differ. Yeah GC will give me $300 today, but I'm patient I can wait.

The 200 is a nice amp. Mine gets lonely. :roflmao:
GC will probably sell your Rumble for $300 - $350 and get that because they have lots of eyes on it.
You? Well you get to do CL and I doubt you will do $300 there.
Take the sure thing.

Do you have a Music-Go-Round anywhere near you?
They'd buy it? I sold them a couple of Jensen speakers about a year ago.
They did OK, I did OK.

I was in the one in Lincoln NE a couple of days ago. The M-G-R stores are more fun to shop in than the big box places.
They usually have some cool old stuff and you neer know what you might find.

i'd take the deal. there's no guarantees on CL, which can be a lot of work to deal with if you have several people come out to try the amp at your place (do you feel comfortable having them at your place?) and not buy, and selling on ebay or any place that consigns means you pay a percentage of your money so you would end up with around what GC is offering if not less.

Check out GC used stuff for a "new" amp. Find what you want online, print out the page, take it to your local GC and do the trade and order simultaneously. They test it and you can return it to your local GC if you're not happy. They will apply your trade in on used stuff, but not the additional 10%. I always do the trade-in because I'm lazy and private selling is such a hassle.

No MGR around here I don't think. So I decided to bring the
Rumble 200 in for the trade/buy and GC offered me $250 for the amp and 20% off the month old "floor model" Rumble stage 800 using a guys friends and family discount. So $410 toward the new one and I paid I think $415 out of pocket. Lots of bells and whistles. I looked online for the owners manual and it's 67 damn pages. Guess I have some reading to do. Thanks for the replies.

Congratulations, @Fireglide93! How have you missed the Fender Rumble Club here on TB? Anyways, be sure to check it out, join if you like, and discuss your new amp!

PS:. I could be wrong, but I think there is no printed manual for Stage/Studio amps. So keep your downloaded version! Or remember how to get to the wiki page in my signature.
