Buying a new amp need advice

Hi all,

I've been in to bass for about eight months now and I'm in dire need of a new amp.
I got a decent practice amp so I just need a gig amp between 300-600 watts since we got a very loud drummer.
I got a budget of about €1200 and tested some things out and I quite a like the Ampeg retro bass combo's (name slipped my mind ... rocket something???).
I'm in to combo's and the tube preamp buzz, but I'm open for everything
All advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance

EDIT: Oh right I forgot my bass is a Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass and with the band we play rock (mostly old school)

Why is it that all Americans automatically asume that people in Europe don't have the same brands as you guys and all walk around naked or in clogs... :) No every decent brand should be available, we got some good music stores in Belgium altough they are quite a bit more expensive.

Because of lot it is not available in Europe. Avatar cabinets are highly recommended on TalkBass as an excellent cab for the money. But you can't offer that suggestion to someone who lives in Europe becuause Avatar has no distributor in Europe. There are a lot of reasons like that which make us assume a few things. We don't mean to be offensive.

Oh, But I thought you guys only played tennis Naked while wearing clogs...Sorry for my ingnorance;)

Well I went to the musicstore today and tried some amps out. I tried the Ampeg B200R once again and although I like it ... quite a lot I'm afraid it lacks the power for the bigger gigs. I also saw that Ampeg is releasing a 600 Watt pretube combo but havent heard anything about it. Is it any good?
So I made up my mind and I'm definatly going for a (pre)tube amp with a bit of a vintage look combo or no combo. Any suggestions?

... You're thinking soccer

I use a Mesa Walkabout Scout for everything except LARGE shows, then I use my Mesa stack (Partly for the look).
The Scout is REALLY loud, has a wide range of sounds, and a tube preamp.
Killer sound,
Who said you're wearing clogs when you're naked?

You're not, are you?
