I've done it on credit cards and store financing but I don't make a habit of using it and it gets paid off as quick as possible.
I'm more inclined to use something like Paypal pay in 4 if I had to buy something I can't 100% pay for in that moment because there is actually an incentive to limit the usage of such methods because you really feel the consequences of letting it snowball. Also those payment methods tend to have a cutoff point so eventually you have to be responsible and plan for big purchases.
