Have you bought a bass from Adorama? Curious to hear any testimonials or warnings. The idea of buying a bass from a camera store, and trusting them to ship it well, has me a little skiddish. But they do seem to have great deals from time to time.

Buying from Adorama?

dollars to donuts they are just drop shipping from a distributor so I doubt they ever even see the instrument.
I have purchased numerous camera, projector, home theater products from them and have always had good experiences with them.
I'm sure you're right. They currently list 832 bass guitars.
I doubt they have them in stock. They're probably just taking and fulfilling orders.
I have purchase numerous photography and video equipment from them over the years. Only once have I experienced a product issue, and the situation was promptly resolved. Otherwise, I have been extremely please with their services.
In regards to musical instruments, I cannot speak from first hand experience, but I would expect the level of shipping quality to be the same. As mentioned in prior posts, many products are shipped directly from the manufacture to the customer and never pass-through Adorama's warehouses.

I was surprised to learn they're legitimate and reputable. I always thought it was some kind of Ali Express shenanigans.
Wow, i didn't know they had their paws into musical instruments, but i guess it's just a forward thinking extension of photo, video, & audio equipment sales.
I used to order film photo supplies from them, including lighting kits that were as big as a HS bass case, + 4× the thickness. Everything was always packed extremely well.
I've even been to their Manhattan location... it was like a cross between a beehive + Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! From what i remember decades ago, there were conveyers carrying product orders going above your head on the sales floor, & Hasidic dudes with the curls in suits practically sliding down firepoles to get around. What a trip

Adorama and B&H are totally legit, and I've had great experiences with both. Beyond that there are a bunch of other shops in NY/NJ that are far more shady.
Usual rule applies - if a deal looks too good to be true, then it likely is.
Reputable, very large. They have a big sponsorship with the NY Football Giants. The official electronics store of the NY Giants. This is obviously not a fly-by-night operation. Their claim to fame is not musical instruments but they have added them to their offerings.
Oh B&H is legit. They're great. But adorama has always been suspect to me, for no good reason. Maybe because it has ad in the name.

I by camera gear from Adorama all the time and have never had an issue. In fact, I'm planning on buying a new $1000 camera from them this week. As others have said, they probably just drop-ship basses from another distributor.
They list some basses that are no longer in production. So I think you may have an order cancelled if you think you have found a NOS item.
Also, they said that the Surf Pearl color was only available through them. It is purty. Pic from before I put Barts in the P to match the J.....
I have been buying camera gear from them forever, with no problem swhat so ever. They have a good reputation I don't believe there is anything to worry about.
Adorama and B&H both drop ship a lot of different items. Three months ago I was looking for a new Hartke 4.5XL cabinet to buy. Both had the cabinet for the exact same price and both were suddenly unable to get it after I ordered it , and both refunded my money with an apology and zero hassles.
