Buying Lakland basses from Mexico. Not cheaper.

I went this website where it says they manufacture Lakland and also some Fender basses.
I assumed that you were able to get it cheaper there and send it to the US.
Instead the price was list price.
Cheaper at guitar center.
What's the deal there? Is that a scam or are they really manufacturing original basses.

Laklands are made in US or the Skyline models in Asia.
