buzzardsbass.com horrible experience

I was looking for a pickguard for a new fender bass of mine. I searched buzzardsbass.com but couldnt find one for my bass. The site said that pickguards have a no ruturn policy and to email to make sure pickguards will fit. I emailed asking if one on the site was interchangable and would fit on my bass.

The reply i got back was very rude saying that if i had looked closer i would have know that the pickguard i asked about would fit and that i was just too lazy to correctly read the websites details. So i replied and said that i would take my buisiness somewhere else because of the rude reply.

what i got back was the worst reply i have ever gotten from a company. saying that i was a F***ing idiot and that i had no F***ing brain and that i should look up my A** to find the correct guard among other things.

i couldnt believe what i was reading and wanted to pass this experience along to encourage all of you to not do buisiness with buzzardsbass.com and to vent about this experience. thank you all, i dont know if i just caught a customer service rep in a bad mood or if this is how people get treated from that websited but they definately lost me as a customer.

Dude...it doesn't matter how crappy your day has gone, speaking like this to a client is NEVER justified. I can't believe this was a legitimate email. Maybe someone is jacking with their messages on their end. Either way, I'd call them by phone and ask to speak to a supervisor and confirm the message was legitimate. If it is, I'd then tell them to piss upwind and make sure everyone knows about it.

A "customer service rep"? Far as I knew, the entire thing is a 1 man operation. And his reputation around here is pretty well known.

Yup. It's just the one dude, and that's how he is. I had a not-so-great experience with him too, though at least he never actually dropped an F bomb. But I've read plenty of stories exactly like yours. I'm amazed he's still in operation.

Nope. Don't call. It's a one man shop, and that was the owner.
Do a search here and you'll find he has a history of similar stuff.
Not pretty at all.

Damn! Scratch my previous post! I had no idea it was a one guy show or that he had this kind of track record. Forget about doing business there and thanks for the heads up about that dumbass.

So I sent Mr. Brian Cornwell, (dba Buzzardsbass), one of my inexpensive Rondo basses and a cashier's check in April to see what quality of work this guy does/"check-out the quality" job before sending any of my more valuable equipment. Plenty of good e-dialog during May and the front end of June. Then, the dude just shuts down, sends me a response saying "I'll let you know"...then nothing, has completely ignored any further e-mail dialog concerning the work I contracted him to do. Yesterday, I contacted Fender to see if this guy really was a Fender authorized service center, as is claimed on the webpage...NOPE! not according to Mr. Fender et.al. I'm hoping that the Fender legal department takes an interest in that one! Next stop, formal complaint with Massachusetts A.G. office, (starting that process tomorrow), then all the advertisers he claims support his business, (it's good to have lawyer friends to provide guidance). I may be out an inexpensive bass and a few hundred bucks, but that is nothing, mere material stuff that can be replaced. There's no excuse for that kind of behavior when you're trying to run any kind of business. Bottom Line....let the buyer beware when initiating dealings with Mr. Cornwell.

I thought something was fishy about this dude when I read on his site that he won't deal with Hipshot Products because of too many problems...

I have never heard that from any other source and I have contacted Hipshot many times over the years and they have always presented themselves as a top notch organization to me and I am just a lowly end user asking stupid questions and asking for favors.

From this jackass' website:

Now Hiring

• Parts Man or Woman

Must know, or are willing to learn about bass guitars and the parts associated with them. Most importantly your duty will be to keep the meatheads away from me as I am far too busy to treat the whiners and winos with the pussy foot they need, or the boot in the ass they deserve.

Frankly, the guy is certainly entitled to feel how he wants to feel and some of his sentiments are not necessarily that outrageous. However, if he thinks that his brutally honest approach of articulating his thoughts openly using this arrogant and abrasive language is somehow helpful to the growth of his business, he is mistaken. Sure, he may turn away some of the "meatheads" but many reasonable customers will read this nonsense and be turned off as well.

Questioning me about an item being in stock: While this is a legitimate question, if you are looking for the best deal possible you are already here. If you want an item faster than you can get it from me then go to the manufacturer and buy from them. The majority of items I have in stock are those that are the most widely used and consumed. While I may have some pickguards and pickups in stock, a higher percentage of items are ordered at the time you place your order.

Laughable, really. I have absolutely no clue how he sells anything at all. The attitude comes later - it looks like it's literally impossible to even converse or transact with him.
