Double Bass Buzzing G string

Hello good people of talkbass! last time i had my bass taken in to the shop (endpin ) he had to take the strings off for a moment. when i was playing at home that night the G strings started buzzing pretty bad, and the farther up the neck i go the more it buzzes! is there any way i can fix this without having to take it into the shop?

Depends on why it's buzzing. Basically, all this drama demonstrates that your shop is probably not competent to be working on your bass, and you need to find someone better.

So, what is the string height like, is the bridge set right between the notches in the f-holes, is the fingerboard side of the bridge square to the top, and is the bridge centred on the fingerboard?

It might not be quite in the right place, you might have bumped it off position, so once you know where it is supposed to be there are ways of shifting it back. But first you really need to know what you're looking at so you don't make the problem worse.

oh gosh, lots of reasons. hmm. ill see what my teacher thinks next time I see him (in like 3 weeks )

I bet your bridge has moved off-center towards the E side. That would cause the G to be too close to the fingerboard and the E to be too high.

Yeah, that would be my guess too. It's not hard to shift one over if that is the case, but first you need to check if that's what it is. Can you measure the string heights at the end of the fingerboard (in millimetres please) and post what they are?
