Buzzing when pedal connected

Hello,

I posted a thread a few days ago about buzzing problems with my Ken Smith KSD Bass.

After further playing around...it seems it only buzzes when I connect my pedal (Boss GT-10B).

However, If I touch my toe on the pedal the buzz goes away.

The buzz also goes away when I touch my knobs on the bass, or the control plate.

The buzz ALSO goes away when I touch my amp head.

What type of buzzing is this?

I dont think its ground loop.
Is it shielding??

Please help, the buzz is SOOOOO annoying!!!

Thank you!

Everything you have said describes a ground problem. Shielding will not help. Hard to say exactly where the problem is though, because there are so many places in the chain where a ground problem may occur. The problem might even be in your amp, or in a power strip you're plugged into, or somewhere else--even though the symptom shows up just with that bass and that pedal. Could be a bad cable. In fact that's the first thing I'd check.

@bongomania
Thank you for responding btw, i really appreciate it!
Well, I do have a GRNDLFT switches on both my amp and pedal.
But it still continued to buzz.
I tried plugging the pedal into a different wall outlet than the bass amp...and still the buzz continues.

That's why I thought maybe it wasn't a ground loop.
And also switching out the cable too, but still the buzz was there.

@bassforthesoul
Never had this problem before. Only with this new bass that I got this week. Been using the same bass amp/pedal rig for about 7-8 months now (with my other basses of course) and there was no buzzing.

@line6man & bongomania
Well, since both of you guys feel (and thank you btw) my descriptions describe a ground loop...I will mess with it some more.

Maybe I have to borrow/buy some new cables or something.
Or maybe loose wiring the pedal or amp??

I dont know, but thank you guys!
I'll post any updates I have.

Bass on!
