C.V or Squire P Bass review

The P gets just as much praise as the J. I have a Chinese 50's P and Indonesian 60's P and Mustang. All three are great basses. You really can't go wrong with any model CV.
Should've bought this Classic Vibe when I had the chance.
As for the CV Jazz basses getting better, they're not, which doesn't mean they're not good basses.
You want one of the older Chinese ones from five years ago or so.
Same goes for this.
Squier probably won't make something this good again.

They have a Harris model because he played a P, but I didn't know about Squire.

I've owned a few older CV basses and I own a MIC CV Tele. They are genuinely great instruments. The newer ones are made in Indonesia, and until someone tells me otherwise, I believe they are just rebranded Vintage Modified Squiers taking advantage of the CV clout and price point but at a lower quality and cost of production. That's not to say the newer Classic Vibes are bad, but the old ones were simply exceptional.
Guitar Center has a (I think) Sonic Blue 60's P with matching headstock for sale. I'd buy that if I were in the market. And push come to shove and you don't like it you can easily return it.

The Eva Gardners were actually Vintage Modified. But they were great basses. I had one. But I found the my CV60's P(ino) to be just a step above.
If you find a used Squier CV 60's P bass or Matt Freeman from the original crafted in China models buy one. They are exceptional. Ive owned 7 and they were all great basses. Still own one. It is a keeper. They now sell used for more than the original retail price.

Every VM I've owned has had a satin finished neck. The CV necks are vintage tinted gloss. I personally think the Indonesian models are a slight step up from the VM line and a slight step down from the Chinese CV's. All still great basses though.
I was aware of these, but just picked one up on a whim in October.
I was skeptical, because I had just gotten a 2010 cic Fiesta Red P in September, and it's fantastic.
(I had spare pickguard, pickups and vintage-style bridge to "update" it)
My 1st Squier ever was a 2010 Classic Vibe Jazz I got 3/2020. Upgraded with Pure vintage '64s, stack knobs, and a vintage-style bridge. It lacks nothing.
But the Indonesian Sonic Blue one I tried also seemed to "have it".
(and its fingerboard is better looking than the last US Fender I purchased.)
Wasn't shielded though like the cic - not a big deal.
In the end, each bass has to stand on it's own.
It's always a plus if you can try it out first, and also helps if you skilled at set-up.
I just sent back a new 70s P; it looked and felt great, sounded pretty good, but the truss rod didn't work - at all. Hopefully it's replacement is a keeper, because I really liked having a P again, and if this one fails... I'm probably going to end up scratching the itch at higher cost.
Thanks, I should have remembered, but it has been awhile. I'm guessing the high-mass bridge threw me.
Any other VMs with those bridges?
