C4, Future Impact, BOSS SY-1, Digitech BSW, and then what?

Fivestring, how does the m6 and the hx integrate? Does one control the other?
Thx,
Rick

The short answer:
Both units have quite a number of tricks up their sleeves, so integration is super slick and can control each other. You're pretty much limited only by your imagination.

To expand with just a couple examples:
The Stomp could send MIDI commands to pull up control banks on the MC6, and then whatever controls you have in that particular bank on the Morningstar could turn around and control the Stomp. Example: You could pull up a patch on the Stomp with a Looper block that sends an instant MIDI command to the MC6 that automatically pulls up a block of Looper commands that would then control the Looper in the Stomp. Or you could have a bank of commands in the MC6 to pull up different patches/snapshots for songs in the Stomp. (Footswitch A = Song A, Footswitch B = Song B, etc). So you could have an entirely different signal chain for each song pulled up with one tap.

The MC6 does have some additional features that the Helix command center doesn't have (yet?), like the ability to have up to 16 commands programmable per footswitch (Helix can only do one at the moment), and the ability to send commands via a short footswitch press, long press, double press, momentary press, etc. So for example, you could have one footswitch on the MC6 programmed to pull up a patch on the Stomp with a short press, do a long press to turn a particular block on/off, and do a double tap to switch snapshots... All on one footswitch.

One of my favorite little tricks at the moment is for the middle of a song that does a quick switch from a patch on the Future Impact to the octaver in my Stomp: A momentary hold on the MC6 footswitch turns the FI off and the Octaver on, and back again when I release the footswitch. Perfect timing via MIDI commands that you couldn't get via the old school pedalboard tapdance.

Or if you really wanted to get over-the-top tricky: a single press of a footswitch on the MC6 could pull up a patch on the Stomp, change keyboard patches (and guitar if they have MIDI effects), trigger lighting changes if you have a DMX/MIDI lighting setup, and start a backing track.

5sg.

So you've got stuff to make your bass sound synthy, maybe some stuff that pairs well with synthy sounds like a chorus (one that goes mad is often the way) and reverb/delay. Or if you just want another flavor of synth I've really loved my mothership 2. Pigtronix's newer "space rip" could be sweet but I haven't played with it yet. I'm finna check one out this week, though!

You mentioned thrice that logic and programming are something you like, so I will ask you to take a look at Zoia.

So I have the above (and other) pedals, unfortunately not used in a band context at the moment.
I am in 3 active bands, where there is limited or no place for these synth/filter effects. However, in the 4:th band, currently dormant (that would be a band name; "Currently Dormant"!), there is definitely room for creativity in the pedal selection when we restart.

Still, just running the pedals at home, I think it is great fun to play along modern EDM and pop, and find new sounds "outside the box". But what could I add more, that is meaningful? (I have fuzz, OD, a crappy reverb pedals available.)

I am not so much into the drone/noise/looping thing, but just to expand the range of tonal expression?
Maybe a flexible envelope pedal? Flanger?
My current board is very small and relatively simple (C4, cali76, darkglass x, hx stomp) I think where the magic really happens is pedal combos. I never turn the cali off. I often use effects in the hx stomp to manipulate what the c4 is doing. It's really fun because the stomp can get do latching or momentary switching. So for example I can be using a synth sound from the c4 then chop it up with the stomp on demand using a tremolo with the footswitch set to momentary. Stuff like that adds a lot of expression.

expression pedal for the sy1 is a must in my eyes… definitely opens up the pedal.
there's a bass demo that shows it abs what the difference is like
Even just the intro

Thanks for all the latest input! I think the next step would be either an envelope filter or a delay/tremolo/reverb. An expression pedal for the SY-1 is also tempting.
