C4 Synth - Learning Curve & Resources?

Hi all,

Must've been pretty good this year, Santa brought me the SA C4 Synth for Christmas...

I watched a lot of demos and reviews, read some threads here, and definitely am a bit overwhelmed (but not necessarily in a bad way). The one recurring theme seems to come down to "you need to learn synthesis."

I've already viewed this wonderful deep dive video by Zach Rizer a few times. I would love some recommendations for "Synthesis 101" here, or if you could point me to some other good videos.

I'm not trying to do anything crazy - mostly looking for synth bass sounds. My biggest synth inspirations are playing along with The 1975 songs like these two:

You are going to have lots of fun with the C4. Can't help with particular sounds as the C4 is a creative tool for me. There are likely sounds in the Neuro web that can get you close.

I am learning a lot about synthesis by taking Sarah Bell Reid's course on VCV Rack 2. Both are free and all of the information applies well to the C4 and Future Impact.

Ableton's interactive synthesis intro should get you up and running with terminology, which mercifully is fairly consistent among subtractive synths. From there I'd check out patch design tutorials from popular songs or synths, like from Dr Mix or Anthony Marinelli. And if you want to go crazy deep, Syntorial is an excellent paid learning resource for sound design

The Zach Ryver tutorial on the YouTubes is good. Spend some time learning the dashboard and app. And highly recommend a simple MIDI switcher like a DMC Micro so you can recall 100-something patches.
