Cabinet impedance conversion ?

i have an old 4 x 10 + horn 8ohm cab , blown speaker .... I want to buy new speakers and turn it into a 4 ohm cab ( to use with my Trace Elliot vr350 tube power amp , which doesnt do 8ohm ) i guess it would be 4 x 4ohm speakers wired series paralel . My concern is the horn. Do i also need to change whatever filter or crossover is in there ? Do i need a different impedance horn ?
 
Almost, but You don't run all 4 4 ohms parallel, you need to do series/parallel.

Hook 2 drivers in series, so 2 x 8ohm s, then wire those in parallel to the speakon or whatever your input is. That gets you 4ohm . Wiring them all to parallel will give you 2 ohm load. I am reading the Loudspeaker Cookbook 7th edition ebook, all questions answered!

What speakers are you planning to use? You also have to make sure they match your cabinet, I had to add 2 inches and change the vents to make my hartke cab work best with different drivers .

It's a good idea to connect the mid points of the series pairs also. So two drivers in parallel sets of 2Ω in series with each other. This way if a voice coil goes O/C three of the remaining drivers will still produce sound.

In the OP's place, I'd be looking for four 16Ω drivers that have specifications suitable for his cabinet. All in parallel for a system load of 4Ω.

Either of these scenerios will keep a load attached to the tube amp.
