Ive got a Peavey 412 tvx that I've been playing out of with a Ampeg pf500 head. The cabinet sounds fine and the volume is definitely there to keep up with a loud drummer and two screaming guitars but the thing is heavy as s#!+ So I have been wondering what my next move should be. I would like to keep my impedance at 4ohm so I can get the most out of the head I've already got. What are your thoughts/preferences? We play heavy rock but not super heavy although I'm generally tuned down a step and a half. I've thought about Ampeg 410s or maybe two 210 cabs Daisy chained vertically. Any recommendations? Music stores around here are not plentiful. Not trying to spend an arm and a leg but want to get something I won't regret and will keep up with a full band that gets loud.

Does anyone have any experience running two ampeg svt210av's vertically? That could be done for about $700. Or two of the pf210s? Both are 8ohm but paired would drop to 4. Not stuck on ampeg as a brand but that's what I've been researching most I guess. The svt410hlf runs 4ohm and it's around 900 as well.

Those are some nice looking cabs. Probably more than I want to spend though.

I run 2 vertical svt210avs paired with a TC Electronic BH800 head each week for practice in a 5 piece classic rock band. They work well, sound great and I can always be heard.

They are great to carry and certainly sound “Ampeg”. Paired with your pf500, I think you’ll be very happy with them.

As a recommendation, if you do pick them up, buy covers for them too, as the tolex is pretty thin. With the covers on mine (Tuki Covers in my case), after 2 years of being transported in the trunk of my sedan, they still look brand new.

From what I've heard, the SVT 210av will likely not be enough for your project, especially if you're looking for low end. These have been described as "medium duty" cabs at best.
But, I'll defer to ctbassguy as he owns them. You might ask JimmyM if he feels they are are sufficient for a drop tune loud rock band. Pretty sure he'd steer you toward the PF210s instead.

Agreed here; the svt210avs are not big in the really low lows. Their freq response as per Ampeg's site is 58Hz - 5KHz (-3dB), and -10dB at 40Hz. And they are not equivalent to 1/2 an 810 either when it comes to power handling or "loud" (I have a flatback 810); "Medium-Duty" is a good description, IMO.

For me, I use only 4 string basses with standard EADG tuning, and for that they work great, but I have always liked the sealed Ampeg cab sound. For 1 1/2 step drop tuning though (sorry, I missed that in the initial post), if you want big lows, these won't do it. I've used them with an Octave-down pedal a few times, and playing a "C" or below gets really muddy fast.

I've seen JimmyM's comments on the svt210avs over time, and he is generally happy with them, and if he needs some more low end with them, suggests bumping the bass knob a bit. However, there is no way these can compete with the 410hlf, in either in "low" or "loud".
