Personally I'm not getting a lot out of the "you can't possibly be hearing that" angle. Or the "there's no such thing" one. There are sufficient timbral and spacial cues to distinguish the presence of more than one source, at least in the absence of walls. This thread has helped me make sense of the anomalies I *am* hearing- they seem to be quite consistent with the bracing, such as it may be, of various parts of the cabinet.
