cables

I don't have a favourite really. I have a mix of fender, Planet waves and and Klotz. I can't personally hear any difference between them but generally when leads fail it's the jack end that is at fault. Either the jack itself or the cable just behind it where it flexes a lot. These days I use right angled jacks except where it goes into an amp. They seem to last much longer and less susceptible to damage from being pulled.

I usualy buy the standard ProCo cables and I have never had an issue. Plus last I looked they were Made in the US.

I will echo statements on Monster Cable. Being a former dealer, the best thing about them used to be the warranty (Their motto was "Any Excuse, Even Abuse"), Since that changed, there is no longer any reason to buy the cables anymore. Plus the ends seem to be a little bit bigger than standard so they end up ruining your input jack

I see people hating on monster a lot on websites like this.... But I've yet to have a problem with them in almost 7 years, and so far the only cable that I notice a positive difference sound wise, any other one I've tried sounds the same or slightly different where it's not that noticeable. Monster patch cables are overpriced and not flexible though.

They aren't bad but incredibly overpriced. If you dig into Monster Cable's business model it was to specifically market cables as high end add on to other expensive electronic goods. Their thinking was that folks paying for really high end home audio or home theater components would easily pay $60 for a $20 cable without questioning it. I've avoided them ever since learning that.

On the opposite end is Monoproce.com, they originated specifically in response to that kind of crap. I have many different types of cables from them and all are rock solid and dirt cheap.

My local shop stocks ProCo, and I've had great results using that brand. Great warranty: when one went bad, I returned it to ProCo and it was replaced promptly. They use mostly Switchcraft plugs, but some are Neutrik. Nice quality for a reasonable price.

I don't know if they sell them over there but Cordial cables with Neutrik connectors have never failed me. Never.

not looking good ...rats :(

The most important thing about cables is how they are treated. All cables have a natural curl & that is how they should be coiled up. NEVER do the famous "wrap thru the palm & around the elbow"! And when I play using a cable I always try to have it laid out so it's not kinked or going to kink. It's not hard to do at all. I have cables (basic $20 mic & guitar cables) I've owned for well over a dozen years.
