Cabronita Bass vs. Sterling Ray 34

Hi all -

New to this forum. Getting back into playing after years away (kids getting older!) not playing out, just jamming with friends.

I'm looking to buy a new bass to replace the old Ibanez PBass copy from 1972 that I bought for $25 in 1985.

The Fender Cabronita and Sterling Ray 34 both sound good to me, and are both about the same price (list).

Any advice/thoughts?

I LOVE my Cabronita! 0 experience with the Sterling though.

Although I was a P bass guy for a long time , and they are wonderful, the ray's also have a great build quality, and are vastly more versatile. Although I've had a lot of P's, I've never had a P bass with the pickup that the Cabronita has,so bear that in mind when weighing my opinion...

Of those 2 choices the Ray would be my first choice and the Cab would probably be my 4th or 5th choice.

If I were in your position, I would buy a G&L L2000 tribute. It's the ultimate evolution of the Leo Fender bass line and has a lot more flexibility than the two you are looking at. Also, they are reasonably priced and very high quality.

I won't get rid of it! It was my first bass ever. Plus, it has a certain something about it ...

I found a good price ($550) on a new G&L L-2000, and I think I'm going to pull the trigger. Thanks for all your help, everyone! I'm so happy I found this space!

This is no contest ray 34 wins hands down if you want warmer sound get the classic. The fender is well fender made bad necks and even worse electronics . I have had one or two fenders that were ok but chances are not good .
