Lafayette Electronics! I remember drooling over stuff in those catalogs, especially the electric guitars, I don't remember ever seeing instruments at Radio Shack, though. That is a cool find, Jimmy. It makes me all nostalgic and crap like that. (Envious, too.)

i used to drool over the sears catalog with the dano's under the silverton name. amps too

Whoa, that's one serious bass cut there. I love the sound of the normal non-bright setting there. Is that with a set of Chromes on it?

And is that a 32" scale?

it's 30" scale, but it takes medium scale strings because of the tailpiece adding a couple inches to the string length. got half rounds on it, 40-95, but they're a little dead so they sound like chromes. the strings are really close together, even more than the jay turser, so it's a little odd to play with fingers, but i'm getting used to it.

I dig the "Deep" setting definitely ... the bass sounds like it would work well with a little "dirt/fuzz" as well. Cool clip nice range

OTOH I had a Maestro brand guitar that was bought for me at Lafayette Radio Electronics around 1969. It was the same as a line of Univox basses and guitars of the era while the instruments with the Lafayette nameplate at that time were identical to the Tesico instruments?

My first bass was purchased at Lafayette Electronics as well. A $79 Kent P-Bass copy.

Wow! All those years, and it still has the Swinging Soul Sounds in it!

As an EBO owner, I like the "dub" setting, but the bass end of the bright setting has a nice woody tone. Very nice.

so i was just blasting it through my micro vr rig, and i've decided i like the sound best with both pickups on, the bright switch on, and the eq adjusted to add more low end. i loved the low end without the bright switch on, but for the stuff i do, i need more upper mid and treble. i like to hear that string attack...sounds really thumpy!

lol! i used to love making stuff from the tandy store. my mom had all the tools and dyes...she was really good at it but i sucked.

i do have a few leather straps...but they're all old man leather straps that are really wide. no way i could use one of those old english beatles straps.
