Can 2 X KT 66 output valves=120watts?

Hi all, IV been offered a mid 70s valve hd.. it was made in Oz or NZ (not sure)..
Anyway, please excuse my ignorance but it's running 2 KT 66 output valves, and guy records output is rated at 120watts... I know commonly 2 xKT 88 s will easily rate 100..
Anyone have an idea if 2x 66s could possibly output 120?
The amp seems pretty loud but I remember sum 50 Watt Valve hds being pretty loud too (with enough paper pushing air)

I would think more like 60, perhaps 80w

Thanks, I was thinking that would be more like it. The amp brand is "Gunn". Hand made to order (low production volume) in Australia in 70s?
IV never seen or heard of them before. Don't have any pics and he wants too much, can get a 100 watt fender bassman for same $s.. IF it was 120watt, I was toying with making an offer. But having heard it thru 2 JBL 4x10s (old 80s models) . 20watts would have been loud , IV used those JBL 4x10s years ago, they are super efficient (loud per watt!!)

PS, I think the JBL boxs were loaded with K or E series 10s? Can't remember, but was surprised to see them , when he demo the amp

I used to have an old Eminar amp that ran KT66s... 6 of them. It sounded great. I shoulda kept it.
I think it was supposed to be around 120 - 150w

Gunn amps were made in Auckland, NZ. There were 50, 100 and 200 watt heads.
Gunns tend to have very high B+ voltages.

If you are on FB, the Jansen Amplifiers page has useful knowledge about Gunn (and Rockit) amps as well as Jansen.

I used to have an old Eminar amp that ran KT66s... 6 of them. It sounded great. I shoulda kept it.
I think it was supposed to be around 120 - 150w

I'm sure a friend had a Ozzie Eminar valve 120 watt hd..huge warm big tone . Brilliant!?

Thanks for that, I wasn't sure if they were Oz or NZ. Being NZ is probably why I never came across. Vase, Wasp, Holden, there are more, just can't remember. There was a good guy in Newcastle (nth of Sydney), made a lot of valve gear, really good, reliable amps, just can't remember brand name..Scion? (Maybe?)

Be aware that if these amps run the output tubes extremely hot there's no guarantee that modern production KT66s will be able to handle it. I've seen more than a few vintage amps with higher wattage ratings than expected work great with old production tubes but turning into really expensive fireworks with modern production tubes.

Having said that, 120w from a pair of KT66s seems insane, even with the best old production tubes.

Agree absolutely insane the plate voltage would have to be huge to do that. Modern tubes would probably melt the screen grids
