Can anybody help me out with this Ibanez SDGR?

My daughter came home from college and expressed interest in the bass, so I gave her my only bass (Ibanez Gio) and now I am looking for something to replace it with. I found this one on EBay and am wondering exactly what model it is and what it's worth.

The serial number is J120151142 which shows it to be a 2012...

• It has two larger knobs and three smaller ones.
• The bridge looks to be on the cheaper side.
• The jack is on the edge instead of on the top.

I have asked the seller for a closeup pic of the back of the headstock, and for a picture of the back with the duct tape removed.

What is the model and what do you suppose it's worth? I'm thinking if I can get it at the opening bid, then it's worth a shot.

That's probably an SR300 SRSR250. They don't cost considerably more than that new. I'm sure if you look around you can find one with no issuesfor what they are asking or less.

I wouldn't pay that for this one.

I've owned a few of the SR's in my day - a couple of the 300's and a 400. I agree with a few others here - I'd go a bit higher, say in the 500-800 model range - better quality, electronics, etc. I see a ton of used Ibby SR's at my local music stores and you can even find a good deal now and then at the pawn shops.

I mean, that bass isn't pretty but I'll have to say - if it's still kicking around and doesn't have any major problems, short of running it over with a bus I don't think it's going to fall apart any time soon.

If you can get it for the opening bid price of $99 with free shipping, then go with it. Otherwise, I would pass.

I suggest you look at Guitar Center's used site, as they have a 45 day return window.

GC has this SR590 for $199 (plus shipping). It looks like the back is scratched up some, but the front looks fine. I'd call the store and ask them about it.

I really hate how their website doesn't tell you anything at all about it, other than the model number. I really wish they could put just a bit more effort into it. What pickups are in it? Is it active or not? What wood is it? Come on GC!

I recommend trying to find one of the more recent SR300e or SR400e basses with the dual coil pickups. I've seen used ones go for around $200-$250.

Some very sensible recommendations here.
For a little bit more, go newer, starting in the 400 series or higher.
My 405 has better hardware, a better finish and only cost a little bit more than their basic GSR 100 EX model cost me 3 years earlier.
A better model will bring a better resale price if bass guitar is just a passing fad.

Super late on this, I know, but it’s a 250. I bought mine “new” from Guitar Center). Price tag was $300. But I paid $240.

The battery compartment door had come off (a package of 2 replacement battery compartment from Amazon cost me $8) and it was missing a knob (that I found on the floor behind the amps before I left). I think mine was worth the $240 because aside from those 2 issues it was pretty much mint otherwise.
