can anyone help?

i recently purchased a bass cheap it seems to be a fender jazz but i am not sure the machine heads have been changed pickups changed, it is made in japan, but looks and sounds like a jazz bass, just its been a bit butchered so i have no clue, if anyone knows their stuff any help would be appreaciated. i can send pics when i take them for any visual aid anyone may need. im not too fussed if its not a jazz bazz but i got it for $160 so if it is i can bragg that i got a jazz bass real cheap! it sez jazz bass on the headstock but is really faded but no remains of the fender log.

Your going to have to get some photos posted. It could be anything.
Jazz is a style of bass. It could be any kind of jazz bass. $160 is not necessarily cheap. It depends what it is.
