Can anyone reccomend a 5 string P-bass pickup ?

I am looking into customizing a Lakland Joe Osborne 5 with a P-bass pickup , but don't know wich ones are good . I know EMG makes one , and I've had good luck with their stuff .
Any suggestions ?

There aren't that many companies making 5-string P pickups, but I'd feel safe recommending either Nordstrand or Sadowsky (who has theirs made by Seymour Duncan, I believe).

Bill Lawrence makes a very good one, the P46. Half the price of many of the others.

Yes, it's there but very hard to find on their new website. I believe the price is $56.

The EMG should sound good.

Just an FYI about the Bill Lawrence. The p46 looks like it has 5 poles in each half as opposed to the 6 and 4 that a fender 5 string precision has. Don't know if that makes a difference to you. It seems to me that the A string isn't going to sound like a Precision A but more like a Jazz A due to the pole placement. Please let me know if I am wrong. Hope this helps.

That P46 pickup from Bill Lawrence is for a 4 string bass. The 5 pole design is just a different take on the typical 4 pole design, it doesn't have anything to do with being intended for a 5 string bass. You could probably use it on a 5 string bass if the string spacing is narrow enough, but it's best to think of it as a 4 string bass pickup.

You beat me to the edit. I meant to amend my post with that information, but also to note that the physical dimensions are of the pickup housings are still the same size as a standard 4-string P pickup. Some P pickups intended for 5-string or 6-string basses have larger (longer) physical dimensions, the P-46 does not.

Hello. It was wrapped by a friend of mine who wraps cars etc. He had some leftover "carbon" wrap. The bass was routed a little yes and new pickguard. I shouldn't have sold it. I was a very nice sounding and feeling bass.
