I haven't examined any frogs lately,and I'm afraid of bears,but I have heard Mr.Clapner.

I have this discussion with a guitarist friend of mine from time to time.I say he can,My friend says he sounds like an old hound dog bellowing at the moon.

In fact,when I have to sing,I try to imitate clapton.I mean his singing,I could never imitate his guitar work.
 
I say he's adequate, and no more. Look at it this way, if he wasn't the fantastic guitarist he is, would he have made it by his voice alone? I seriously doubt it. The same can be said of Billy Joel and Barry Manilow and many other singer/songwriters.
If you're a great player, and can carry a tune, people say that you can sing.

A thought to ponder; most people that can really sing can do so because of a God given gift, most musicians have to train for years to be really good.
