Can I do this? 1 amp, 3 cab setup.

So my current rig is a Orange Terror 500 going to two Hartke Hydrive 410s. I'm using both outputs on the back of the Orange and I'm in 8 ohm mode currently.

There is an old Traynor that I'd love to hook up additionally (cause it sounds amazing) at the same time.

It's my understanding that I can daisy-chain the Hartkes together to be run in parallel and they would operate as 4 Ohms.
And the Traynor is 4 ohms, so I'm thinking I can run both simultaneously.

But there's a big difference between 8 10s and 2 15s. I'm wondering if the Traynor would be getting too much power.

So for those of you that are knowledgable in this area, is this something I can do? Or would i blow up the Traynor?

That would not work, I don't think. Those outputs are in parallel to each other, unless you're very careful you'd risk blowing your amp up, unless it's 2 ohm stable

Yeah, don't do this. The total load on both connectors cannot be below 4 ohms. If you connect all of the cabs this way it will result in a two ohm load which will damage your amp quickly and severely.

NO. That amp is 4 ohm minimum, that mix is 2 ohms. You can do one or two Hartke's or one Traynor.

If he set the cabs to 4 ohms that would make 2 ohms.

He is doing it right, but has no room to add more.

Being solid state, having the ability to change the cab to 4 ohm mode and just using one in small gig or small car scenarios is a nice option.

No, the AMP HEAD is seeing a 4 ohm load (with the two cabs) and must be set to 4 ohms not 8 ohms. I'm not talking about the cab switch.

Terror 500 is class d, does it even have an ohm switch? The only ss amp I have encountered with an impedance switch was my kenwood reciever, which also ran the a+b sets of speakers in series rather than parallel. Go figure

The manual says the amp delivers full power at both 4 and 8 ohm settings, depending on the switch position.
The only way I know to achieve this (out of a tricky stereo amp bridging) is to use an output transformer, which is unusual on SS amps but not unheard of (Warwick Hellborg amps for example).

One thing's for sure, the switch should be set to 4, not 8 when using both Hartke cabs.

Bstring be right. The cabinet combination will produce under 4ohms (2.67 I believe) which is not enough resistance for most solid state amps regardless of class. A full tube amp may be able to handle this without self destructing, but
not a s.s. I had the same issue trying to run 2 4ohm Carvin 4x10's and bought the Carvin B2000 head which is one
of the few heads out there that will drive a 2 ohm load. My advice would be to buy a separate power amp and run it
out of a line level out (tuner, effects loop), to power the 3rd cabinet.

Have you ever thought about integrating one of them in your amps, with all the demand for "my amp delivering its full power in all circumstances" ?
