Can I put a P Bass bridge on a SR300?

I was thinking about commissioning a leather pickguard and slapping those chrome things on that people have on their p basses but that would require a slightly thinner bridge. Can I just screw a smaller one in?

Changing the bridge is kind of a big deal. The bridge on an SR300 uses 4 screws at the base and 2 screws at the top. The standard Fender P-Bass bridge uses 5 screws at the bass and none at the top.

Say that, you could likely find something to fit. You need to be aware that changing a bridge will require lots of little adjustments to make it work properly. These adjustments are made slightly more difficult is you are changing the type of bridge from the original one which you are planning on.

Way more work than it's worth, and if you're like 99.99% of bassists out there, you'll enjoy the bling but hate that you can't access the strings near the bridge, and take it off right away.
