can I use a guitar head as a bass head?

Just lost my bass head to old age and dont have bucks to by a new one. I do have a fender 1000 pro ,transister type,guitar head,will this work or will I damage it. I am using a compressor and a processor before the input. Any advice would be a help Thanks
