Can someone explain to me what I just bought?

So I bought this Marco on a whim today. I honestly haven't a clue what model it is or anything. Any insight would be lovely.

They appear to be fairly high end instruments. That model isn't on the site (that I can find) and I imagine it's a custom order.


As stated earlier, it appears to be a cowpoke style.

Looks like a Tele variant more than the TFLs I've seen, but I'm not entirely clear on Marco's older naming conventions. Marco's current TFLs are usually 34.5 inch scale length (not sure about the Tele models though) Jazz, P, P-J, or J-H variants, and always come stock with Marco's own hand wound pickups. If it's active there are multiple possibilities for preamp type. TB'er @liquidfingers (Ian Sides) is the sales rep. You'll probably get the best results posting on either Marco's personal Facebook page (Marco Cortes) or the Marco Bass Guitars one, but the email contact link on the website should work OK too. I'm currently working with Marco on some onboard electronics projects and see him pretty often. PM me with specific questions if you don't manage to connect with Ian or Marco directly in the next few days and I'll help sort you out. I'm not really up to speed on Marco's older builds, but he's done a lot of cool and unusual stuff for sure in any case.

Thanks for the insight. I will have to give them a shout. I was looking all over the web and couldn't find mention of this bass anywhere. So I figured Talkbass would point me in the right direction as always.

It's a beauty, hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy my Marco Bass, which is a very different thing. I often get to bring various old and new builds home to do test preamp installs in as well, and have been lucky enough to have some of my DIY stuff in Marco's NAMM booth the last few years. That booth is always crazy busy and I wouldn't be at all surprised if the brand becomes a lot more well known sooner than later.
