OK, I understand your frustration. It is noted.

That being said, you have been here since May of this year. Many of us have been here for 10+ years. I don't think you have been here long enough to make a blanket statement like....
But it shows up so often in a normal there where it clearly is not going to derail at all.

It's not that you aren't allowed to say it. But I don't think you have enough history and context to know what has or hasn't been discussed to death here....and what causes argum....uh.....friendly debates here.

Mixed drivers....oy.
Under/overpowering speakers.
Sound guy/"my tone" in live shows.
Best Fender that isn't a Fender
Woods used to make basses and if/how they affect tone.

I could go on all day. In fact, I think threads with these topics (and several others) should be REQUIRED to start with a popcorn meme. They should even have a popcorn icon beside the thread title when scrolling through threads!

By the way, we can derail anything. Try us.

As far as "clutter" goes, we have an Off Topic thread that is something like "Describe your last fart using a movie title." I feel as though the powers that be would have removed such content if we were at risk of running out of space anytime soon. :D

Also, lots of times people post those popcorn pics when someone asks a question that has been asked a bazzilion times before they do a search. The oerson who posted that pic is simply saying "This poor guy is about to get hammered and I can't look away". That's why we have the "best whatever for metal" running joke going as well.

We're all just having fun here. As long as it's not a for sale thread and everybody is being respectful talk about whatever. Post funny pics. It'll be OK.

The only times I see it is:

1. When someone brings up a "dead cat" topic.
2. When someone brings up a topic that has no real answer, and several camps who aren't going to be moved in their opinion with a bulldozer.

Rather than get ugly, it's a way to offer an opinion. As soon as you read the OP, you KNOW they are coming, and that there are few, if any constructive comments that can be added. It's not a derail.

Look, a squirrel.
